Togetherness Even When Apart

The environment today is not like anything we have seen in our living history.  In addition to the physical threat known as COVID-19 (coronavirus), we also have a very real and equal threat – psycho/social threat and its impact – to us personally, our community, our economy.

Our normal is different.  We are being asked (and in some cases told) to think and behave differently.  This goes against how our brain is designed.  Our brain looks for and thrives on certainty.  We all have varying degrees by which we determine when uncertainty is no longer OK.  We also have filters designed by our brain to keep things “the same” even when they are not as a defense mechanism.  Either way… things are still different.

Some of us are getting frustrated with “overreaction”.  Some are getting more fearful of the health threat.  Some are just trying to adjust to external factors now impacting them (i.e. school closings).  Some are fighting for their livelihood.  Each perspective matters.  Each scenario increases uncertainty.  Our brain actually does not like uncertainty.  It impacts how we think, how we behave, and how we navigate our environment.

The Disruptive Element is a company founded on helping people be the best they can be.  We are passionate about making a difference in the world one person at a time and building communities as we go.  During this time of uncertainty, change, and just simply stated…things are different, we want you to know we are here, and we want to help.  We will be contributing frequent blogs and social media groups to:

  • Provide encouragement and support for those who need it

  • Equip leaders with additional tools to help navigate business with new workforce norms

  • Create an even stronger sense of community despite ‘social distancing’

  • Remind and equip all of us (The Disruptive Element included) that we have the power to choose

  • Guide you to choices that are helpful, forward-moving actions that give you encouragement, progress, and adaptability – in a way that makes sense for you!

For now, we leave you with this tip as a way to begin…

As humans, we have the unique ability to choose.  What do you choose today?  Be intentional.  Our brain will work towards what it focuses on – even behind the scenes without you knowing it!  What do you choose today that your brain can focus on?  Pick something – maybe something that gives you energy.  Write it down.  At the end of the day, what do you notice?  Where did this make a difference?

Please feel free to share the impact!
